A catastrophic injury is a severe injury to the brain, spine or spinal cord, possibly including fractures of the skull or spinal column. These injuries can be the result from violent trauma in an accident, or indirectly from complications associated with the original injury. Individuals who sustain a catastrophic injury in a motorcycle accident, car accident, fall or another serious incident, are unable to function in daily activities and in many other capacities.
